Currently standing at 99500 words or so, Dark Roads has almost come to the end. Just a little closing off, some sort of an epilogue and it can be printed for a detailed edit.
Still got a lot of work to do though and there are going to be some inconsistencies that will need editing out I’m sure. It’s good to be getting to this stage though and interesting that my original guess of 80k words was wrong by about 25%. As that was only a guess, it doesn’t particularly matter, but it will be equally interesting to see what the final word count ends up at. I know there is going to be a fair amount of descriptive narrative to be added, but at the same time, I’m sure I need to cut out some of the superfluous stuff. Perhaps they’ll balance each other out.
