For the January entry, the question is to describe someone you admired when you were a child and how your opinion changed as you grew.

Childhood is such a long time ago for me that I have a hard time remembering much about it๐Ÿ˜‰.

Thinking hard I suppose it might be Winston Churchill. As a child I can remember thinking what a great man at a very simple level. It was only as I started to study history as I grew older that I began to realise what a complex and complicated man he was and how his life was shaped by the events around him. I still think he was a great man and the ideal leader during the war years, but I can see much more about him before that.
